The result of a collaboration between the Muséales du Mont-Saint-Hilaire and the Center d’art contemporain du Québec in Sorel-Tracy, the sculptor and painter André Michel inaugurated, last Wednesday, a route of sculptures installed all along the Richelieu River.
The route is a circuit of 25 works inspired by First Nations and “Mother Earth” and which look like windows on the river. The works are in 25 villages, including Lacolle, Saint-Paul-de-l’Île-aux-Noix, Sainte-Anne-de-Sabrevois, Saint-Blaise-de-Richelieu, Iberville, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu , Chambly and Richelieu.
The sculptures highlight the first real inhabitants of our territory, the local fauna. Ethnographer, André Michel works to bring together indigenous and non-indigenous peoples, and to promote respect for nature.
The 25 works of the Bestiary of the Richelieu Tourist Route celebrate animal life and its diversity.
