Married in 1951 to his first wife Hélène Faure (who died in October 2022), with whom he had two daughters, Hugues Aufray never hid his affair with another partner. In a relationship with Muriel Megevand since 2005, the two lovebirds lead a peaceful life and have even taken a step forward in their relationship.
Interviewed by Le Parisien in July 2020, Hugues Aufray confided in our colleagues in his new house located Marly-le-Roi, in the Yvelines. A house that belonged to the sculptor Aristide Maillol, in which he lives with his “young companion” and their cat Lily Flowers. “There, Muriel and I know all our neighbors”, admits the singer who lived 45 years in Marnes-la-Coquette without ever knowing his neighborhood.
A new start for the interpreter of Santiano who is full of praise for his companion. “If I have kept my youth, it is partly thanks to Muriel, my young companion. She pushes me, she inspires me”, confided the nonagenarian to Paris Match. An unusual sentimental life that Hugues Aufray reveals without any embarrassment.
“Our biological clocks, between men and women, are not the same,” explained the man who saved Celine Dion’s life to Le Matin newspaper in 2015. “Viagra, I don’t know! I’m still married to the woman I I met when I was 20. She can’t follow me. I’m a normal man, with an important professional activity and therefore, it’s true, I have a young girlfriend. I’m not lying to either to another. I have peace of mind”.
While he will soon celebrate his 94th birthday, on August 18, Hugues Aufray intends to continue his career until he can no longer sing. In an interview with Courrier de L’Ouest, the artist currently on tour said he is not about to hang up the microphone. “I will never retire because I have never worked,” he assured our colleagues on June 4. “I sing and I play music, so I have fun even if I am paid to have fun”.
The occasion also for the famous musician to evoke the last moments of his life. After a long career, Hugues Aufray has amassed a great fortune and several assets. But, before taking his last breath, Muriel’s companion made a radical decision around his succession. “To avoid the succession worries that Johnny Hallyday’s family had, I gave all my property to my children”, confides the friend of Taulier to our colleagues from the daily affiliated with Ouest-France. “I have nothing left, I bequeathed everything to them, so there will be no problems”. Case settled amicably with the family.
