This Sunday, June 18, 2023, 44 departments are affected by at least one order limiting the use of water. 21 others are in a state of “vigilance”, according to the government site Propluvia. Despite a return in recent days of precipitation, in particular powerful thunderstorms this weekend of June 17, France is experiencing an alarming drought situation.

According to calculations by franceinfo and data from the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research, as of June 13, 72.1% of groundwater tables have a level below normal. One of the worst situations in the last five years. Given the significant risk of drought, the prefects take water restriction measures according to their department.
