(Brampton) The United States beat Czechia 6-2 at the Women’s World Hockey Championship on Sunday.
The Americans scored with six different scorers and took the lead with the score 2-2 after the first period.
Hilary Knight, Megan Keller, Tessa Janecke, Abby Roque, Eden Lacey and Hayley Scamurra are the American scorers in the game.
Defender Carolina Harvey had two assists and USA goaltender Aerin Frankel stopped 22 shots in total.
Sara Cajanova and Denisa Krizova replied for the Czechs, who led 2-1 at 13:06 in the first half before Scamurra equalized at 16:11.
Blanka Skodova made 23 saves in the loss.
Canada, defending champions of the tournament, enjoyed a day off on Sunday. He will face the United States to conclude the preliminary round in Group A on Monday.
The Germans will face the French in a Group B duel.
Earlier on Sunday, Finland came from behind to defeat Sweden 4-2.
Trailing 2-0 after two periods, the Finns scored three unanswered goals in the space of four minutes to take the lead.
Finland (3-0) secured first place in Group B with one game to play in the preliminary round on Monday against Hungary.
Ronja Savolainen led Finland with two power play goals – the tying goal and the insurance goal.
Petra Nieminen scored the winning goal and she set the stage for Savolainen’s equalizer.
Goalkeeper Anni Keisala stopped 13 of 15 shots for Finland.
Viivi Vainikka started the Finnish comeback by scoring her team’s first goal.
Sweden took a 2-0 lead after Mira Jungaker and Hanna Thuvik threaded the needle.
Sara Grahn, participating in the World Women’s Hockey Worlds for a record 11th time, allowed four goals on 38 shots.
