(OTTAWA) Ottawa police have seen an increase in complaints about fake ticket sales to sold-out Taylor Swift shows.

Demand is high for the six shows scheduled for next year in Toronto, the only Canadian leg of Swift’s Eras World Tour. These concerts are expected to attract fans from across the country and beyond.

Ottawa police released a statement on Friday saying they have seen an uptick in reports of counterfeit ticket sales in recent weeks, with some complainants losing up to $2,000.

Reported losses totaled over $12,000 in the past three days alone.

Police say the risk of financial loss increases dramatically for transactions made on platforms like Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji.

Authorities are urging buyers to take the time to meet potential sellers and inspect coveted properties before closing a deal.
