It is a promise. On July 27, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, announced a new increase in pensions in 2023 to protect pensioners in the event that inflation continues. According to the Social Security financing bill 2023, adopted on October 26 by 49.3, retirees will benefit from an increase of 0.8% from January 1, 2023.

This amount was calculated on the basis of the inflation that was observed between November 1, 2021 and October 1, 2022. This will be the third revaluation in a year. Indeed, a first increase of 1.1% was implemented last January and then a second increase of 4% in September. This second increase should normally have taken place on August 9. Due to an overly tight legislative timetable, it was finally postponed to September 9. “The timetable for the parliamentary review of this law did not allow the Retirement Insurance to deploy this revaluation on the payment of the July pension paid in August”, indicated the Cnav (National Old Age Insurance Fund) on its website.

This 0.8% increase in retirement pensions in January 2023 will affect 14 million pensioners. However, this revaluation of basic pensions concerns retirees affiliated with very specific funds (see our slideshows below). Note that in 2023, the pension reform bill will be expected at the turn. Its implementation promises many upheavals…
