The Young Chamber of Commerce of Montreal wants to diversify its membership of nearly 1,600 business people and professionals aged 18 to 40.

To do this, it is equipping itself with a new “collective of ambassadors” made up of four young business people from diverse origins.

Also, the young chamber is relaxing its membership rules with the introduction of a free formula for networking and online participation in its events.

“With this new business model, we want to reverse the perception of chambers of commerce as an “elitist” organization that some young business people or professionals at the start of their careers have. We want this next generation of businesspeople to have easier access to a network of inspiring people and business leaders to guide them in their professional path,” explained Marie-Krystine Longpré, general director of the Young Chamber of Commerce of Montreal ( JCCM) during an interview with La Presse.

In this new “collective of ambassadors” of the JCCM, we find in particular Céline Juppeau, founder of Kotmo, an eco-responsible promotional object company, as well as Nathon Kong, founder of Maison Nathon Kong specializing in the making of custom clothing for businessmen, in association with the organization Les Impatients which is dedicated to mental health assistance.

The JCCM’s collective of ambassadors also includes Eddy Dureuil, co-founder of Solution Ecotime, a young entrepreneurial start-up specializing in rainwater recovery in commercial environments, as well as Sybile Yao who is responsible for events and sponsorships at the financial group’s Montreal office. BNP Paribas, of European origin.

“For 92 years, the JCCM has been a vibrant place of exchange that transforms the next generation of today into the visionaries of tomorrow. It was notably the first young Chamber to welcome women,” indicates Mélissa Fortin, president of the board of directors of the JCCM, in the announcement press release distributed Tuesday evening among its members.

“We are constantly questioning the status quo, and the way we organize ourselves and bring our messages into public space is no exception! With this new model, we want to make the JCCM more accessible and representative of the next generation of business people. »
