Steven Stamkos added a goal and an assist for the Lighting, which was wrapping up a four-game road trip.

Pyotr Kochetkov blocked 17 shots for Carolina, which has been beaten three times in four games.

The Hurricanes were shut out for the third time in their last 10 games.

David Perron scored three goals in the third period on Tuesday to guide the Detroit Red Wings to a 7-4 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Perron scored first with a wrist shot early in the period. After making it 5-4 on the power play, he added his 19th goal this season at 17:05.

Perron scored his ninth career hat trick.

Detroit led 3-0 at the first intermission (Jonatan Berggren, Andrew Copp and Dominik Kobalik). Berggren ended an 11-game drought.

Jason Zucker, Jake Guentzel and Jeff Carter replied in the middle, but Perron took matters into his own hands in the third period.

Dylan Larkin scored in an empty net.

Alex Nedeljkovic made 35 saves in his 100th NHL game.

Josh Archibald was the other scorer for the Penguins, who have the last available playoff spot in the East.

The club will begin a three-game stay at home on Thursday against Nashville.

Juuse Saros stopped 35 shots, Cody Glass scored late in the second period and the Nashville Predators ended the Boston Bruins’ seven-game winning streak by beating them 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Looking to get back into the Western Conference playoff picture, the Predators won just the third time in eight games. Jérémy Lauzon added an important goal in an empty net late in the third period.

The Bruins had tied a club record set in the 1970-71 campaign with a 57th win on Sunday. They are still five wins shy of the NHL record with eight games remaining on the regular schedule.

The Detroit Red Wings won 62 games in 1995-96, then the Tampa Bay Lightning tied that mark in 2018-19.

David Pastrnak scored for the Bruins with less than a second left in the game. It was his 52nd goal of the season.

Linus Ullmark stopped 21 shots in goal for the Bruins, who suffered just their fourth loss in regulation at home this season (30-4-3).

Mika Zibanejad scored his 38th goal on Tuesday as the New York Rangers prevailed 6-2 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Also an accomplice to Artemi Panarin’s goal, Zibanejad has 13 points in his last eight games.

Filip Chytil, Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Kane scored in the first eight minutes of the game.

Vincent Trocheck also hit home for the New Yorkers, who have lost only once in their last eight meetings.

Alexis Lafrenière provided two assists and Igor Shesterkin made 28 saves.

In the Metropolitan section, the Rangers are only two points behind the Devils. They will also face them Thursday, in New Jersey.

Panarin leads Rangers with 84 points, including 25 goals.

The Columbus line came from Kirill Marchenko and Johnny Gaudreau.
