The Rolling Stones are inspired by the times that are running. While their new album will be released on October 20, the legendary British band is already working on their next one.

This is what singer Mick Jagger, 80, said in an interview with the New York Times published Thursday. “We’re almost three-quarters of the next one,” he said.

Stones fans are already eagerly awaiting Hackney Diamonds, the group’s 24th studio album, and especially its first opus of original music in 18 years.

To the New York Times, guitarist Keith Richards said the band needed to make its mark with new drummer Steve Jordan, two years after the death of the old drummer, Charlie Watts. Two songs from the album were also recorded with the latter in 2019.

Last week the band released Hackney Diamonds’ debut single, Angry. According to the New York Times, the upcoming album is “a loud, cantankerous and unrepentant collection of new songs from a band that refuses to mellower with age.”
