The list of 52 titles competing for the adult section of the Prix des libraires du Québec is now known.

Among the 12 titles selected in the Quebec novel-short story-story category, there are three published by Héliotrope in recent months: Familiar Shadows, by Vincent Brault, Every Wound is a Promise, by Simon Brousseau, and It Could Have Been be a film, by Martine Delvaux. What I Know About You, by Éric Chacour (Alto), Granby in the Simple Past, by Akim Gagnon (La Mèche), The Account is Good, by Louis-Daniel Godin (La Peuplade), Hotline, by Dimitri Nasrallah ( translated by Daniel Grenier at La Peuplade), and The version that doesn’t interest anyone, by Emmanuelle Pierrot (Le Quartanier), are also part of the list.

In the same category outside Quebec were chosen among others Triste tigre, by Neige Sinno (P. O. L.), Humus, by Gaspard Kœnig (Éditions de l’Observatoire), La justice des hommes, by Santiago H. Amigorena (P. O. L.), and N let’s not be afraid of the sky, by Emma Hooper (translated by Dominique Fortier at Alto).

In the Quebec essays, we find in particular Troubler les eaux, by Frédérick Lavoie (La Peuplade), and Arsenic mon amour, by Jean-Lou David and Gabrielle Izaguir-Falardeau (Éditions du Quartz). The exit is a blade on which I throw myself, by Marie-Élaine Guay (Poètes de bush), was selected in the poetry category alongside Adieu les shrimps, by Charlotte Francoeur (Le Noroît), among many others.

Rose à l’île, by Michel Rabagliati (La Pastèque), is also one of the titles selected in the Quebec comics category, while Toxic Environment, by Kate Beaton (translated by Alice Marchand at Casterman) was found in the same category outside Quebec.

The 24 titles selected among the finalists for the adult section will be revealed on February 8, at the Montreal bookstore La Livrerie, while the winners will be presented during a gala at Club Soda on May 16, at the same time as the Prix d’ excellence of the Quebec Booksellers Association (ALQ) which honors a bookseller for their exceptional work.
