It will soon be impossible to dry your tears or blow your little cold nose with Kleenex brand tissues. The American company Kimberly-Clark announced the end of its “tissue paper” activities in Canada this month, several English-language media reported Friday, including CTV and CBC.

“Thank you so much for your loyalty to our Kleenex branded tissues over the past decades. We appreciate you allowing us into your homes and want you to know how difficult it has been for us to end our sales in Canada,” the company’s website reads.

To justify his decision, Kimberly-Clark cited “unique complexities.”

“We operate in a very constrained supply environment and, despite our best efforts, we have faced unique complexities in the Kleenex industry,” said Todd Fisher, vice president and Canadian general manager of Kimberly-Clark, in a statement emailed to CBC. This decision will allow us to redirect our resources to better focus on other brands in Canada and meet the needs of our consumers with continued innovation and value. »

The name won’t disappear completely from shelves, however, as Kleenex’s “professional facial products” and “consumer hand towel products” will still be available. Kimberly-Clark’s other brands like Cottonelle, U by Kotex, Poise, Depend, Huggies, Pull-Ups and Goodnites will also continue to be sold domestically.
