(Buffalo) The Canadiens recalled Cayden Primeau from the Laval Rocket. The goaltender landed in Philadelphia on Monday and will be available for Tuesday’s game against the Flyers.

While the Habs are officially excluded from the NHL playoff race, we deduce that the organization wants to see the young man in action in the big league.

It was Patrick Friolet of RDS who first revealed that Primeau was already in Philadelphia. The reporter added, through his Twitter account, that the goalkeeper is having a very good time in Laval. In his last 9 games, he has a 2.33 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage.

This decision to bring him home at this precise moment may seem curious, since the Rocket is in the heart of the fight to reach the AHL playoffs. However, the American has started the last six meetings of his team; we can therefore assume that he would have watched his team’s next game from the end of the bench, especially since veteran Kevin Poulin has recovered from the upper body injury that cost him a month of activity.

Primeau, 23, has only played one stint with the Canadiens this season. Since the 2019-20 season, he has been given 15 starts, but only three wins.
