Players from the 2018 World Cup-winning Canadian junior team will not be eligible to make the national team until the end of the investigation into the alleged gang rape that allegedly took place in London, Ontario, after the gala of the Hockey Canada Foundation.

Hockey Canada told TSN on Monday.

“Earlier this year, Hockey Canada decided that until the investigation and adjudication of the 2018 incident is complete, no 2018 National Team player will be considered for be part of Team Canada,” a spokesperson for the federation wrote in a statement.

Members of the Team Canada management staff for the 2023 IIHF World Championships have been notified, it is reported. The event is scheduled to take place May 12-28 in Finland and Latvia.

This announcement comes hours after the House of Commons Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage unanimously passed a motion requiring Hockey Canada to submit the report of the investigation conducted by the firm Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP into the an alleged sexual assault in London in June 2018 involving Team Canada players. The committee members have agreed that the names appearing in the report remain private.
