After the cancellation at the last minute of Le Monde à l’envers by TVA, Stéphan Bureau bounces back elsewhere with Contact, a show of long interviews inspired by a podcast that he has been running for several years. The first episode is dedicated to Georges St-Pierre, who was supposed to return to the octagon this fall, before a shoulder injury thwarted his plans. With great generosity and honesty, the 42-year-old mixed martial arts athlete discusses a wide variety of topics, such as aging, his fear of being humiliated in the arena, his admiration for Elon Musk, his past of being bullied and the money. As for Stéphan Bureau, calm, he steps aside to leave all the space for the athlete.

Well, some will say. After being offered exclusively on Crave for seven months, the event series is coming to the small screen. Directed by Alexis Durand-Brault (Mégantic), Disobey: Chantale Daigle’s choice tells a true story of which many adolescents and young adults today are unaware: that of a 21-year-old Quebecer who fought all the way to the Supreme Court to assert her right to abort in 1989. This biographical drama, which resonates particularly strongly in 2023, given the annulment of the Roe v. Wade in the United States, is enhanced by excellent performances from Éléonore Loiselle and Antoine Pilon, both finalists at the latest Gémeaux awards.

Adapted from the memoirs of journalist Michael Ausiello, this sweet romantic comedy (with a fair amount of drama) chronicles the rollercoaster romantic relationship of a TV columnist and a photographer in New York… until the latter contracts cancer dazzling. Fans of American television should appreciate this feature film directed by Michael Showalter (The Eyes of Tammy Faye, The Big Sick), if only for all its references to Felicity, this series from the turn of the 1990s and 2000s which remains, in our minds at least, a classic. Titled Divulgâcheur in French, Spoiler Alert stars Jim Parsons, Ben Aldridge, Sally Field and Bill Irwin.

It’s your lucky day! Initially broadcast on Séries Plus in spring 2022, this captivating adaptation of the novel by Jean-Philippe Baril Guérard is available in full – and free – on the internet this fall, in addition to being presented every week on Télé-Québec. So you can catch up on the first two episodes before catching the third, which will be presented Thursday evening. Directed by Christian Laurence (Haute demolition, Le journal d’Aurélie Laflamme), this miniseries tells the story of Kevin (Antoine Pilon), a millennial who dreams of succeeding in business by developing a controversial application. It’s dark, grating and brutally cynical. Also with Virginie Ranger-Beauregard, Rodley Pitt and Louis Morissette.
