(Philadelphia) Aerosmith has postponed half a dozen dates on its farewell tour because singer Steven Tyler injured his vocal cords during a concert.

In a post shared on Instagram late Monday night, Tyler said he was heartbroken to announce he couldn’t sing for the next 30 days, per his doctor’s orders.

The 75-year-old artist claims to have suffered damage to his vocal cords at the end of last Saturday’s show, which led to bleeding.

The group will therefore postpone certain dates, so that spectators “get the performance they deserve,” said the singer.

The new show dates are: January 29 in Detroit, February 14 in Chicago, February 17 in Washington D.C., February 21 in Toronto, February 26 in Raleigh and February 29 in Cleveland.

Aerosmith, known for their hits Dream On, Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion, began their latest tour on September 2 in Philadelphia. The group was in Long Island, New York last Saturday.

The 40-date tour was scheduled to include a stop in the band’s hometown of Boston on New Year’s Eve, with the final show originally scheduled for January 26 in Montreal.
