(Montreal) Canoeists Sophia Jensen and Julia Lilley Osende got to grips with the basin that will host the Olympic events in less than a year. On Thursday, the Quebecer and her Nova Scotian teammate won bronze in the C2 500m final of the Canoe-Kayak Sprint World Cup in Paris, France.

Jensen and Lilley Osende covered the distance in 1:58.02 to finish behind compatriots Sloan MacKenzie and Katie Vincent (1:57.01), silver medalists, and Chinese winners Xu Shixiao and Sun Mengya (1 min 56.13 sec).

Jensen and her teammate were consistent in the last 250 meters to secure their place on the third step of the podium and fend off their closest pursuers by more than half a second

Earlier this week, Jensen and her teammate were the fastest in the quarter-finals to secure a place in the next round. They then continued their momentum by finishing first in this round to obtain their ticket for the ultimate race.

The regatta will wrap up on Friday as Jensen looks to add another medal to his collection. She will participate in the C1 200m semi-finals. Finals A and B will be played later in the day.
