The game is over… and English-speaking music is the most listened to on Spotify this year in Montreal. This is what the Spotify Wrapped chart reveals, which ranks Drake, Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen as the three most popular artists among users of the platform in the metropolis.

At the global level, it is Taylor Swift who sits at the top of the listening charts (as for the Canadian charts). Spotify’s top 10 places Bad Bunny in second place, followed by The Weeknd, Drake, Peso Pluma, Feid, Travis Scott, SZA, KAROL G and Lana Del Rey.

On the Montreal podium, after Drake, Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen, Travis Scott and The Weeknd follow in the ranking, which lists the listens for the year 2023 on Spotify. Unsurprisingly, pop music is the most consumed by Montrealers, followed by rap, rock, hip-hop, then what Spotify calls pop-rap.

In terms of the most popular songs, still in the metropolis, it is the song Flowers, by Miley Cyrus, which is at the top of the ranking. Proof that country music has firmly established itself in the pop universe: Morgen Wallen, the third most listened to artist in Montreal, ranks his song Last Night in second position in the song charts. We then find Calm Down, by Rema and Sleena Gomez, I’m Good (Blue), by Bebe Rhexa and David Guetta, then Creepin’, by Metro Boomin, in collaboration with The Weeknd and 21 Savage.

Spotify, in addition to its global and national rankings, also established podiums for 20 cities in Canada, including Montreal and Quebec.

In the nation’s capital, country reigns. Morgan Wallen is the most listened to artist on the platform and another country singer, Luke Combs, is in second place. A former country star who has become the most successful popular singer in recent years is in third place: Taylor Swift. After Drake, in fourth place, we find Zach Bryan… another country music artist.

The trends are the same at the national level: in Canada, Taylor Swift, in first place is followed by Drake, Morgan Wallen, The Weeknd and 21 Savage. Users will soon have access to the popular ranking of their own most listened to artists.
