(Montreal) Canadians Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson won the grand final of Montreal’s Pro Beach Tour Elite 16, a beach volleyball tournament, on Sunday.

In the final match, the two Torontonians beat Americans Julia Scoles and Betsi Flint 21-15, 16-21 and 15-13.

The Canadians led in most of the statistics, especially in attacks (38-34) and blocks (5-3). They also committed one less unforced error than their rivals.

Earlier in the day, Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson had earned their place in the final by defeating the Chinese Chen Xue and Xinyi Xia in three sets of 21-19, 17-21, 15-11 on center court at Parc Jean-Drapeau.

Scoles and Flint reached the final of the tournament by defeating the Dutch Katja Stam and Raïsa Schoon in two sets of 21-18, 21-19.

Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson finished second in Group D with a record of two wins and one loss.

In the first round, the Canadians triumphed 21-19, 19-21, 17-15 over Americans Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng before defeating Americans Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth 21-15, 14-21, 15-8 in the quarter-finals.
