(Montreal) Singer-songwriter Gab Bouchard and his co-writer Mathieu Quenneville won the French section of the SOCAN Song Prize for Ton shift est pas fini.

The song in question appears on the second album by the artist from Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Grafignes, released in 2022.

The prize is the result of a public vote among eight nominated songs which had been selected by a music industry jury.

Bouchard and Quenneville said they were happy to receive this recognition and to have resonated with the public.

Winners are awarded a $10,000 scholarship, as well as a new musical instrument provided by Yamaha worth up to $2,500.

Among the other songs nominated, we notably found Since, written and performed by Lydia Képinski, Fille à porter, written by Ariane Roy and Roxane Azzaria and performed by Roy and Lou-Adriane Cassidy, as well as D’origine c’que j’ come, by Simon Bolduc, performed by Bolduc all crooked.

The last recipient of this award was Hubert Lenoir, for his song Secret, written by himself, Félix Côté and Julien Chiasson.
