Distribution Composites, a distributor of products for the manufacturing of composite materials, will open a 6,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Shediac, New Brunswick this month. Already growing by 25% this year, the company aims to ensure continued growth by penetrating the Maritimes market.

Currently, 90% of Distribution Composites sales are made in Quebec. About three-quarters of its customers are companies in the industrial sector, such as manufacturers of canoes, balconies, airplane parts or wind turbines. The balance is monopolized by individual customers, whom it now serves through a 1,000 sq. ft. store opened two months ago.

“We have been growing by 20% to 25% per year since our founding in 2009. Our strength is that we keep our products in stock, so we can deliver within the day, or the next day, while our competitors deliver in one to three weeks,” says president and owner David Conroy.

The company sells all products used to manufacture composite materials such as fiberglass, including resins, adhesives, fabrics, reinforcement, solvents and epoxy. Tools, too: paintbrushes, gel coat gun, Kevlar scissors.

To ensure that its growth continues, the president is currently focusing on the Maritimes region.

Currently under construction, the company’s new distribution center in Shediac should begin operations by the end of the month. With shipbuilding running smoothly, the company senses sustained demand for its products.

“We make a lot of sales to fishing boat manufacturers, like lobster boats and crab boats,” explains David Conroy. In 18 months, I estimate that I will get 7 million more sales, just in Prince Edward Island. »

The president says he has not yet finished developing his game plan for Nova Scotia, but estimates that he will be able to identify around thirty new potential customers there: “There is a market of 15 to 20 million which hangs out there, easily. We have big goals for the Maritimes market. »

Part of its sales strategy in this market will consist of not only selling products related to composite materials. The company will also expand its product range to include all accessories fitted to fishing boats.

“Each boat is outfitted with $150,000 worth of specialized equipment,” says David Conroy. So we will sell all these parts as well: motors, nuts, GPS. This will increase our strength in this market. »
