The Scott Pilgrim vs the World movie will have a sequel in the form of an animated series that will premiere soon on Netflix.

The producers made the announcement on Thursday, revealing that the animated series would take on the exact same cast as that of the cult film directed by Edgar Wright. Thus, Michael Cera will lend his voice to Scott Pilgrim, clumsy teenager and bassist of a small rock band from Toronto. Same for Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowers), Chris Evans (Lucas Lee), Anna Kendrick (Stacey Pilgrim), Aubrey Plazza (Julie Powers), Kieran Culkin (Wallace Wells), Ellen Wong (Knives Chau) and Jason Schwartzman (Gideon Graves).

It was the director Wright who managed to bring together the entire original cast, who therefore resumes service to bring back to life characters who marked a generation – despite the commercial failure of the film when it was released. Wright will co-create the animated series, along with screenwriter BenDavid Grabinski and original comic book writer Scott Pilgrim Bryan Lee O’Malley. The trio will have the mandate to take over the plot of the comics, which had been condensed in the adaptation of the feature film.

The release date of the anime series is currently unknown, but Japanese studio Science Saru will handle production.
