(Montreal) The 38th Gémeaux Awards Gala takes place at 8 p.m. on Sunday evening. Series that have received several nominations are worth watching, including Indefensible, The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up and Before the crash.

The gala which rewards the artisans of Quebec television will be broadcast on Radio-Canada and on its website. Pierre-Yves Lord was given the mandate to host the evening.

This Thursday, the Industry Gala has already awarded certain prizes in more technical categories. The end-of-year show Bye Bye 2022 walked away with six statuettes, and the series The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up won three prizes.

The five-episode miniseries directed by Xavier Dolan is also nominated in a total of 12 categories. It was beaten by the series Indefensible, broadcast on TVA, which received 14 nominations.

With ten nominations, season one of Before the Crash, Bye Bye 2022, season seven of L’Échappée and Mégantic are also well placed to walk away with a statuette.

As for the prestigious category of best drama series, the productions in the running are Avant le crash, Chouchou, Haute demolition, The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up and Mégantic.

New this year: the prizes in the “interpretation/animation” category are awarded in non-gendered categories.

Thus, in the “best leading role in a drama series” category, we count Evelyne Brochu (Chouchou), Éléonore Loiselle (Disobey: the choice of Chantale Daigle), Antoine Pilon (Disobey: the choice of Chantal Daigle), Patrick Hivon ( The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up), Julie Le Breton (The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up), Catherine Paquin-Béchard (Mégantic), Éric Robidoux (Mégantic) and Éric Bruneau (Virage-Double foul).

The Industry Gala took place this Thursday, September 14. In addition to having highlighted Bye Bye 2022 and The night where Laurier Gaudreault woke up, the second season of Complètement Lycée received two awards, as did the current comedy show Infoman 2022, the youth series Lou and Sophie, the documentary Hail Slut and the documentary series Face the Devil from the North Shore.

Shortly before the gala on Sunday evening, the Gémeaux Awards Opening Gala, hosted by Nicolas Ouellet, will be broadcast on ICI ARTV and on the Radio-Canada website from 3 p.m.

Finalists in the various categories are selected through “grand juries” formed by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. The winners are then determined by a vote of Academy members.

The Gémeaux Audience Prize will also be awarded during the evening.
