(Quebec) The Cowboys Fringants were unable to perform Thursday night at the Festival d’été de Québec due to the threat of severe thunderstorms.

Festival-goers were warned to leave as the popular band prepared to perform their “carte blanche” show on the Plains of Abraham around 7 p.m. The Cowboys Fringants even attempted an a cappella song, before being cut off by the evacuation message.

Robert Charlebois had just performed on the same outdoor stage.

The festival’s Facebook page on Thursday evening read: “Forecasts indicate that conditions are deteriorating faster than expected, the organization must cancel its outdoor shows for the remainder of the evening as a precaution. A major weather system is expected in the next few minutes. Please move calmly towards the exits, and take shelter. See you tomorrow ! »

It was to be a precious moment between the band and their fans.

The Cowboys Fringants had canceled the show they were to present Tuesday at the Festirame in Alma, Lac-Saint-Jean.

The Festirame organization explained that this absence was due to the schedule of treatments that must undergo the singer of the Cowboys Fringants, Karl Tremblay, who has been fighting for several months against prostate cancer.
