Good news for festival goers! The Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ) is offering a rain check to the Cowboys Fringants and their fans on July 17. After a heartbreaking cancellation, the administration of the FEQ offers a last evening featuring the artists who have been jostled by the storm.

It will therefore be a catch 2 for Sara Dufour, Robert Charlebois and the Cowboys Fringants. Monday, July 17, the festivities will resume on the plains starting at 7 p.m. with the program modeled on the shortened Thursday evening.

The Cowboys Fringants’ performance was canceled due to thunderstorms that hit all of Quebec Thursday night. The rain got the better of the Quebec formation, which tried to offer at least one song to the thousands of festival-goers who had gathered for the occasion despite the storm warnings.

“We knew that the performance of the Cowboys Fringants was expected, both for festival-goers and for the group,” says Nicolas Racine, CEO of BLEUFEU. “The moment the weather forced us to cancel the show for safety reasons, our teams went into solution mode with the band’s entourage. It’s really the story of an entire city wanting the show to happen: in the moments that followed, and into the early morning hours, our discussions with all of our partners and suppliers showed us how mobilized everyone was.”

The administration of the festival had announced earlier Thursday that the performance of the emblematic group would be moved up to 7:30 p.m. due to weather conditions. A shortened version of Robert Charlebois’ show took place when Sara Dufour’s performance was cancelled. The disappointment was palpable, both for the group and for those who had come for the event.
