(Boucherville) Halifax Mooseheads forward Jordan Dumais was named player of the week in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Monday.

The 19-year-old from L’Île-Bizard scored three times and added four assists to help the Mooseheads finish the week with a 3-0-0-0 record.

Dumais first scored his 10th goal of the campaign in the opening moments of the match which ended 4-2 in favor of the Mooseheads against the Sea Dogs on Friday night in Saint John. He also added an assist to his record on the winning goal.

Then, the next day, the Quebecer darkened the score sheet again, scoring in the third period in a 4-1 triumph for the Mooseheads over the Shawinigan Cataractes.

Dumais capped his work week with three assists on Sunday in a 4-0 shutout against the Cape Breton Eagles — it was the Halifax team’s eighth consecutive victory.

This performance notably allowed him to collect his 304th career point in the Cecchini circuit, thus breaking a 20-year-old franchise record which belonged to former Mooseheads captain Brandon Benedict.

Dumais has never been held off the scoresheet since returning from Columbus Blue Jackets training camp earlier this fall. In 11 games, he scored a total of 12 goals and collected 28 points, which placed him tied for sixth among the league’s leading scorers.

Dumais succeeds Chicoutimi Saguenéens goaltender Mathys Fernandez for the QMJHL Player of the Week title.
