(Boucherville) Cape Breton Eagles forward Cole Burbidge was named player of the week in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Monday.

The 18-year-old from Windsor, Nova Scotia, scored two goals and added three assists to help the Eagles finish the weekend with a perfect two-win record. Burbidge first scored a goal and collected an assist in a 4-3 victory for the Eagles against the Saint-Jean Sea Dogs on Friday night, before doing it again the next day in Saint-Jean with a performance of goal and two assists in his team’s 5-4 overtime victory.

The Nova Scotian, a second-round pick of the Sea Dogs in the 2021 QMJHL draft, was acquired by the Eagles during the off-season after finishing fourth among league rookies with 50 points in 68 games last year.

He succeeds Jules Boilard, of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
