(Harrison) Troy Lesesne was fired by the New York Red Bulls on Tuesday, and his successor will become the franchise’s 20th head coach in 29 seasons.

The New York team also mentioned that Denis Hamlett had left his position as sports director, by mutual agreement with the club’s management.

Lesesne replaced Gerhard Struber on May 8, when the team was in last place with a record of one win, four losses and six draws for nine ranking points. The Red Bulls finally made the MLS playoffs after defeating CF Montreal and finishing the campaign eighth in the Eastern Conference. They then defeated Charlotte FC in the first round, before losing to Cincinnati FC.

The Red Bulls have never won the MLS Cup.

The team also fired assistant coach Zach Prince.

Eleven of the 29 MLS clubs have changed coaches this season – including CF Montreal, which fired Hernán Losada last week.
