(Florham Park) New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced Thursday evening on Instagram that he underwent surgery to repair his torn Achilles tendon.

The post showed Rodgers, dressed in medical scrubs, smiling in his hospital bed, with his left foot visibly damaged.

Rodgers said the procedure was performed Wednesday by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, a Los Angeles orthopedic surgeon who has worked with several professional athletes.

“The operation went very well,” Rodgers wrote. Thank you for all the love, well wishes and support. Thanks to the best, Dr. ElAttrache and his team for putting me on the road to recovery. »

Rodgers will miss the rest of the season, having been injured on his team’s fourth play in his debut with the Jets, Monday night, in his team’s 22-16 overtime victory against the Bills.
