Bye bye, The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up and Complètement lycée started the race for Gémeaux with a bang on Thursday evening.

The three productions won numerous golden statuettes at the Industry Gala, hosted by Nicolas Ouellet live from the Complexe Desjardins, in Montreal.

Bye bye 2022 won in six categories, including best costume design, best makeup and hairstyles, and best editing (humor, magazine, variety). The popular end-of-year review led by Simon Olivier Fecteau could boost its haul on Sunday, when the other two award ceremonies will be presented.

In fiction, The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up, by Xavier Dolan, achieved a hat trick by obtaining three Gemini: editing, photographic direction and best original music. In this last category, the trophy will be sent to American composers David Fleming (Dune, The Last of Us) and Hans Zimmer (Inception, Gladiator). The miniseries will be presented on Télé-Québec in the fall. It is also offered on Club illico.

As for comedies, the second season of Complètement lycée, with Rosalie Vaillancourt, seems to be enjoying irresistible momentum. Noovo’s offering, which pastiches American soap operas for teenagers, won two important trophies: best direction (ahead of About Antoine, The Brotherhood, The Guys and Sans Rendez-vous) and best text (ahead of About Antoine, The Eye of the Storm, Léo and Sans rendez-vous).

Four other titles achieved doubles: I salute you bitch and Face the Devil of the North Shore in documentary, Lou and Sophie in youth, and Infoman 2022.

Other winners include Club Soly, 100 Genies, Mégantic, Disobey: Chantale Daigle’s choice, I would like someone to erase me, There are people at mass, Enquête and Larry.

Hosted by Pierre-Yves Lord, the 38th Gémeaux awards will be broadcast on ICI Télé on Sunday at 8 p.m. In the afternoon, ICI ARTV will broadcast the Opening Gala from 3 p.m.
