(Belmont) Amy Yang birdied on five pars and posted a third straight 67, five under par, to take the lead in the third round on Saturday at the Meijer Classic.

Yang rallied well after par bogeys three of the 11th and 13th holes. She then birdied on the 14th hole, par on the 17th and 18th holes.

Yang won his four LPGA titles in Asia, in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

The KPMG Major will be held next week in Baltusrol, while the US Open will be in Pebble Beach from July 6-9.

“I know there’s KPMG, as well as the US Open two weeks later,” Yang said. I always do my best to win my first major there. If I play well, it will give me confidence for the event. »

Ashleigh Buhai finished the round with a 66, while Ayaka Furue had a 69.

China’s Xiyu Lin scored 66.

Ariya Jutanugarn (66), Hyo Joo Kim (69) and Leona Maguire (69) finished with 13 under par. Defending champion Jennifer Kupcho (69) had 12 under par.

Kupcho made an eagle and four birdies. She did, however, make three bogeys for a second straight round.

“I didn’t play the way I imagined,” Kupcho said. I still stayed focused. Hopefully I can play well tomorrow. »

Brooke Henderson finished the round tied for 39th. She handed a 69 card on Saturday.
