(Paris) Kevin Lambert’s third novel, That our joy remains, is part of the first selection of the December prize, in France.

The December prize, in its first selection of ten novels published on Monday, favored revelations over headliners. François Bégaudeau is the best known name of this selection. It also contains the names of rising authors, such as Hugo Lindenberg and the author of one of the most noticed first novels of this season, Neige Sinno.

As for Quebecer Kevin Lambert, he has already distinguished himself before during the season of literary prizes in France. His novel You Will Love What You Killed was a finalist for the Prix Médicis in 2021, while Querelle de Roberval, published in France under the name Querelle, won the Prix Sade in 2019, in addition to being selected for the Wepler and Medici prizes the same year.

The third novel by Kevin Lambert, That our joy remains, was published in mid-August in France, by Le nouveau Attila editions.

The December prize was originally created in 1989 to reward a forgotten novel from other autumn literary prizes, as its name suggests. It is coveted for its endowment of 15,000 euros (about 22,000 Canadian dollars), with the support of the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation.

The prize is awarded this year on October 31, before the Goncourt.
