(Las Vegas) Anthony Davis has agreed to a three-year, $186 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The source spoke anonymously, as the team has yet to announce a deal.

ESPN reported the news first, citing Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul.

The average per season value of 62 million is the highest annual salary in NBA history.

A star player on eight occasions, Davis was named to the league’s 75th anniversary team.

Last season, he averaged 25.9 points and 12.5 rebounds, appearing in 56 games.

The contract extension will begin in 2025-26. Davis will pocket 40.6 million next season and 43.2 million the next. The extension will then come into effect.

When healthy, he and LeBron James remain a very explosive duo.

They helped the Lakers win the NBA Championship in 2020 and make it to the Western Finals this year.
