(Toronto) Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime will begin his run at the National Bank Open in Toronto against a player who has won his place in the main draw through qualifying.

The draw for the event took place on Friday.

Auger-Aliassime is currently the highest-ranked Canadian in the world, sitting 12th in the ATP rankings.

Montrealer Gabriel Diallo will play against Briton Daniel Evans and Laval resident Alexis Galarneau will face Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo. Ontario veteran Milos Raonic will cross swords with American Frances Tiafoe.

Like Auger-Aliassime, British Columbian Vasek Pospisil does not yet know the identity of his opponent in the first round since it will come from qualifying.

Ontario’s Denis Shapovalov had to forfeit the national championship due to a knee injury.

World No. 1 Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is the tournament favorite with a prize pool of US$7.62 million.
