(Buenos Aires) Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Spain’s Sergio Busquets, the recent star signings of Inter Miami (MLS), could make their big debuts on Friday against Mexican team Cruz Azul, the North American franchise coach said on Wednesday.

“I don’t rule out throwing them in the bath” during this tournament bringing together American and Mexican teams, Argentinian technician Gerardo Tata Martino told his country’s sports channel TyC. “There’s one training session left and we’ll talk to them to see how they feel and then we’ll decide.”

“We can expect to see them on Friday, but I don’t want to rush it,” he added.

The two former Barça teammates have just signed with the MLS club until 2025 and the seven-time Ballon d’Or was even presented to Miami on Sunday with great fanfare.

Inter Miami has been struggling for several seasons in MLS, where its results have been disappointing. He thus remains on 11 games without a win and recorded his 14th defeat in 22 outings this season on Saturday.
