For almost 10 years, we have celebrated August 12 in a beautiful way, encouraging local authors. La Presse offers you articles and interviews that will undoubtedly inspire you for the day “I buy a Quebec book”.

We can not blame cartoonist Michel Rabagliati for lacking transparency. In addition to recounting his life in his Paul series, he often announces in advance the next stop on his artistic itinerary. It was known since the publication of Paul – Interviews and Commentaries that he was preparing an illustrated novel. It’s called Rose à l’île and, it’s no coincidence, it arrives in time for “I’m buying a Quebec book” day.

Indigenous activist, host and director Melissa Mollen Dupuis, whose first children’s book has just been released, is one of the guests of the fourth Montreal Children’s Literature Festival, which takes place on Sunday. To create Nutshimit: a forest bath, the author teamed up with illustrator Elise Gravel.

This August 12, why not dare poetry? Especially since two of our best poets are publishing new collections almost at the same time: Kau Minuat – Once More by Joséphine Bacon and Things of Light by Maude Veilleux.

La Presse has selected these three freshly printed books to devour without hesitation.
