Forward Emil Heineman joined the Laval Rocket in practice on Monday, returning to North America after the end of his campaign in Sweden.

Heineman had attended the Montreal Canadiens camp last fall, but he injured his thumb. Once recovered, around mid-November, he returned to Sweden to spend the season with Leksands IF.

In 35 games with Leksands IF, Heineman has eight goals and seven assists. He was shut out in three outings in the playoffs.

Leksands IF were eliminated last Monday by Rögle BK.

Heineman, 21, was acquired from the Calgary Flames on Feb. 14, 2022 in a trade also involving Tyler Toffoli.

Heineman was selected in the second round, 43rd overall, by the Florida Panthers in 2020.

He is the second player to join the Rocket for the final leg of the season, after American defenseman Jayden Struble.

The Rocket will play their next game on Wednesday at home against the Bridgeport Islanders.
