The Ford F-150 is getting a series of improvements for the 2024 model year in order to compete even more strongly with other players in this lucrative segment. A cornerstone of the financial health of the Dearborn manufacturer, it is getting a makeover, retouching its mechanical offering and integrating improvements to its rear body.

Behind its slightly redesigned grille inspired by the Bronco and which will be offered in different versions depending on the livery chosen, the 2024 F-150 abandons its naturally aspirated 3.3L V6. It will be the 2.7L V6 that will be responsible for move the entry-level F-150.

Ford also specifies that the PowerBoost hybrid will be offered in all liveries, excluding the Tremor and Raptor versions, a decision that will make this pickup truck more competitive with the Toyota Tundra also with a hybrid engine. The manufacturer ultimately suggests that all engines, namely the 2.7L and 3.5L twin-turbo V6s in addition to the 5L and 5.2 supercharged V8s, will see their power slightly increase, without detailing the content. No word, however, on the Lightning electric version.

To continue to have the attention of its audience, the 2024 F-150 also incorporates a new body panel allowing a vertical central opening of up to 100 degrees. The idea behind this is to ensure access to the bed – with a choice of 1.68m (5.5ft) or 1.98m (6.5ft) length – when a trailer is hitched to the van. The Pro Power electric power source, which can power electronic devices up to 7.2 kW with the hybrid version of the F-150, remains in the options book.

Finally, this 2024 F-150 will benefit from an improved version of the BlueCruise semi-autonomous driving system allowing lane changes without turning the steering wheel. Aware of the wave of thefts affecting pickup trucks, Ford is also adding the Ford Stolen Vehicle Services (FSV) system to the arsenal of the F-150, the first vehicle of the brand to benefit from it. The owner is alerted by an application as soon as someone gains access to their vehicle or attempts to damage it or tow it. He can then contact a telephone service which will help the police find it, if it is obviously declared stolen.

With inflation affecting everything, the 2024 F-150 will have a starting price of $49,655, an increase of about $3,500 for the two-wheel-drive XL version. The Platinum Plus livery which replaces the Limited version will command a sum of $107,890 at the top of the luxury pyramid. Order books are currently open at dealerships nationwide.
