Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen is recovering from an attack he suffered earlier this month outside a Florida hotel.

Allen was down in that state for a gig at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. He was attacked during a smoke break outside the Four Seasons hotel in Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man, but have no reason at this time.

On social media, the 59-year-old musician thanked all of his fans for their support. He said he and his wife Lauren, who was not with him at the time of the incident, are trying to regain a sense of safety.

Officers said the suspect hid behind a column while Allen smoked a cigarette. He then allegedly ran into the drummer and threw him to the ground.

The individual also allegedly attacked two women who tried to rescue the musician. The man then reportedly drove to another hotel, where he began smashing car windows before eventually being subdued by witnesses and arrested by police.

The man is now charged with assault, criminal mischief and assault on an elderly or disabled person.

Allen lost an arm in an accident in 1984.
