(Jakarta) Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 27 points as Canada easily defeated Latvia 101-75 at the FIBA Basketball World Cup on Tuesday.
Canada was down 23-13 after one quarter and only led by a point at the half before proving dominant.
Gilgeous-Alexander also had six rebounds, six assists and two steals.
RJ Barrett contributed 22 points and five rebounds.
Kelly Olynyk added 15 points, one more than Nickeil Alexander-Walker – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s cousin.
Andrejs Grazulis scored 16 points for the Latvians.
The Canadians finished the group stage with a 3-0 record, prevailing by an average of 37 points.
Canada and Latvia (2-1) will be part of a new group with the top two clubs in Group C, the matches of which end on Wednesday.
Defending champions Spain will be in this group. Ivory Coast and Brazil are fighting for the other place.
Elsewhere in the tournament, the Dominicans took the next step beating the Angolans, 75-67.
Germany corrected Finland, 101-75.
The second round will also include the United States, Lithuania and Montenegro.
Spain, the United States and Slovenia will be among the nations in action on Wednesday.
