This is a proven fact by the Court of Auditors: pension files regularly contain errors in view of the scale of the files to be processed and certain specific cases. According to recent figures, one retirement benefit in seven would thus be the carrier of a financial error, harmful for the pensioner who receives it. While this situation seems to be permanent, the future implementation of the pension reform is giving some cold sweats to retirees, as well as to pension funds, which must manage a considerably modified system. Are you affected by these errors?

Each year, the Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Vieillesse (CNAV) measures the frequency of errors present in retirement files, but also their impact on the retirement pensions received. In 2022, as Senioractu reports, it thus carried out a study on a sample of 10,601 files covering all types of benefits liquidated for Carsat and noticed a significant percentage of incorrect amounts paid. It is, in fact, 1.1% of the amounts paid studied, which had an error.

In this context, it can therefore be estimated that these errors, related to the amount of benefits granted during the year, i.e. 6.4 billion euros, generated differences of 70 million euros to the detriment beneficiaries. A difficult and complex situation, which prompted the Court of Auditors to observe a massive heterogeneity in the levels of errors between the funds. Liquidation errors at the CNAV Île-de-France thus record a rate of nearly 20% on the files checked.

To complete this study, the pension audit specialist, Océa Concept, looked into this thorny issue and, for its part, estimated that this error rate was much higher with, on average, at least five errors in nine career statements out of 10.

While 90% of statements would be impacted, this figure raises questions about the different ways to check the correct calculation of your pension. The main errors would thus be correlated with the lack of quarters worked in the count of rights or errors on the amounts of wages to be corrected with the pension insurance.

Among the other errors noted, we can also note the periods of unemployment or long illness, which are not or incorrectly calculated, as well as the taking into account of the supplementary pension. In this case, it is better to be careful and check the data entered.

Expatriates are also affected with periods of activity abroad, which can be completely hidden. The additional terms for children are also frequently forgotten. Last year, nearly 274,000 rights reviews and 174,000 service reviews were carried out to remedy this situation.
