(Edmonton) The Edmonton Oilers and forward Ryan McLeod avoided salary arbitration on Tuesday under a two-year, $4.2 million contract.

Both sides were due to make their case to the arbitrator on Friday.

The 23-year-old McLeod played 57 games in 2022-23. He scored 11 goals and added 12 assists to set a new career high of 23 points. He also added five assists in 12 playoff games.

Defender Evan Bouchard is the last restricted free agent for the upcoming campaign.

The 23-year-old fullback is coming off a second straight season of at least 40 points, racking up eight goals and 40 points in 82 outings. He shined in the playoffs with four goals and 17 points in 12 games.

The Oilers finished second in the Pacific Division in 2022-23 by virtue of a 50-23-9 record. They were eliminated by the Vegas Golden Knights – eventual Stanley Cup champions – in six games in the second round.
