According to data revealed to BFMTV by I-CAD, it is the name of Maya that comes first for females. Indeed, more than 53,000 female dogs were identified by this first name in 2022. Just behind, we find Nala and Naya, which completes the top 3 of the most given names among females. But the classification established by the organization also returns to the most popular breeds. The first three for the year 2022 are then the Border Collies with 37,834 identifications, the Australian Shepherds with 36,376 censuses and the Chihuahuas with 36,241 recognitions. But how is identification carried out?
Identification is mandatory in France for dogs, cats and ferrets which correspond to the three most domesticated animals. 95% of these animals already are, according to the I-CAD.
