A new channel will appear as part of cable companies’ basic package this fall. The CRTC requires providers to distribute Natyf TV, a French-language channel that celebrates diversity.

The body’s decision was made public on Thursday.

Natyf TV was launched in June 2018. Its programming is made up of programs that touch on culture, well-being and various societal issues. Its mission is to reflect the concerns of the various Francophone cultural communities it serves. Its programs come from creators from cultural communities.

In a press release, the general manager of Natyf TV, Jean-Yves Roux, welcomed the CRTC’s verdict. “Despite the strong opposition from telecom companies that we faced to obtain our license, we will prove to the industry that [the body] made the right decision. Other established media should see us as an ally providing a completely complementary service. »
