The Covid-19 is surfing on the seventh wave of the epidemic in France. Every day, tens of thousands of people test positive for the virus across the country, and hospitals are increasingly overwhelmed with admissions of Covid patients.

In the columns of the Journal du Dimanche, epidemiologist Arnaud Fontanet warns: “According to models from the Institut Pasteur, 1,700 new daily admissions to hospitals are expected by July 18, against around a thousand these days. This trajectory brings us closer to the level reached in the spring with the Omicron sub-variant, B.A.2.”.

So much so that the researcher fears that we will find ourselves in a rather worrying configuration, with “a peak higher than that of April”… And in certain departments, hospitals are already under high tension. As a result, admissions are currently higher than they were at the peak of the previous wave, around March 30, 2022.

In our slideshow below, discover the list of departments where there are more Covid patients hospitalized on Tuesday July 12, 2022, than there were on March 30. The figures given are based on data from GĂ©odes – Public Health France.

Thus, the researcher at the Institut Pasteur also recalls the good gestures to fight against the epidemic: “Protecting the most fragile is first of all inviting them, as well as their entourage, to adopt barrier gestures, to wear the mask, to ventilate well and to reduce their contact”.
