(Toronto) The Canadian Football League commissioned an external talent evaluation company, Pro Football Focus (PFF), to identify its most deserving players for the 2023 season and three Montreal Alouettes players stood out during of the first week of activities.

Defensive back Ciante Evans, linebacker Avery Williams and kicker David Côté are in the spotlight this week.

Evans had two interceptions, two tackles, including one for a loss, and a knockdown.

Williams had eight tackles and one on special teams.

Côté was successful on all four field goal attempts in addition to amassing 192 yards on three kickoffs, including one of 70 yards.

Evans posted the CFL’s best mark of the week at 85.7.

PFF performs an in-depth review of match footage to provide additional context for every action. PFF staff breaks down every match, player, and game to offer over 200 unique data points, which are then used to compile player ratings out of a maximum of 100 points.

Each week, the highest player ratings in offense and defense, as well as the highest rated offensive line, will be recognized in the CFL Honor Roll. The best individual performances, determined by player ratings, for each of the nine position groups will also receive honorable mentions within the All-Star Team of the Week.

Offensive and defensive players must play a minimum of 25 games to qualify; Special teams players must play a minimum of 10 games. The number of games played will serve as the tiebreaker.
