(Phoenix) Eduardo Rodriguez has agreed to a four-year, $80 million contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.

This person agreed to speak to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the agreement had not been confirmed by the club as of Wednesday evening.

Rodriguez gives the National League champions another excellent starter in their rotation. He joins Cy-Young Award finalist Zac Gallen, veteran Merrill Kelly, as well as youngsters Brandon Pfaadt and Tommy Henry.

The 30-year-old left-handed gunner spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Tigers. He went 13-9 with a 3.30 ERA in 2023.

Rodriguez spent the first six years of his career with the Boston Red Sox and had his best campaign in 2019, boasting a 19-6 record and 3.81 ERA in 34 starts.
