Spectators eager to see the Formula 1 cars run at the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit were treated to a very thin appetizer on Friday afternoon.

The first free practice session only lasted a few minutes. A clutch problem forced Pierre Gasly, of Apline, to immobilize his car. A red flag was raised and all the cars entered the garage, while Gasly’s single-seater was evacuated from the track.

The action never resumed. A synchronization problem between the security cameras installed on the circuit forced the cancellation of the end of the session. A third of the pilots therefore never even started their engine.

The organization of the Canadian Grand Prix has not yet given details on this technical problem. The second session, however, has been moved up to 4:30 p.m. and will last an hour instead of half an hour.
