Earl Cochrane has resigned as General Secretary of Soccer Canada — the sports federation’s top job — according to a person familiar with the matter.

The person confided the information to La Presse Canadienne on condition of anonymity since he was not authorized to speak about it publicly before the official announcement.

Cochrane came into the role last July when Peter Montopoli stepped down to become head of matchmaking operations in Canada at the 2026 World Cup.

Cochrane becomes the second senior at Soccer Canada in months to leave the organization, which is in a labor dispute with its national teams.

Nick Bontis resigned as president of Soccer Canada in February when he admitted a change was needed to find common ground with the senior men’s and women’s teams.
