(Beijing) World number one, Aryna Sabalenka, was eliminated Friday in the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 in Beijing by Kazakh Elena Rybakina (N.5), in two sets, 7-5, 6-2.

After a competitive first round, Rybakina raised her level of play and won her second victory in a row against the Belarusian, reigning Australian Open champion.

The Kazakh, who lost to Sabalenka in the final in Melbourne, will face Russian Liudmila Samsonova on Saturday for a place in the final.
