Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan offered American rapper Post Malone the lyrics to a song… the recording of which was never completed.

This is what the Rolling Stone says in an article published Tuesday on its website.

It all started a few years ago, when producer Michael Cash – associated with hip-hop – had the idea of organizing a collaboration between Bob Dylan and artists like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and Post Malone.

Michael Cash approached Jeff Rosen, Dylan’s rep. To convince him, he even sent him a photo of Dylan’s face tattooed on Post Malone’s bicep, as well as a cover of a Dylan song by Malone – a big admirer of Dylan.

So Bob Dylan wrote a song for him, called Be Not Deceived. According to Michael Cash, Post Malone cried when the lyrics were read to him.

In March 2021, Post Malone traveled to Michael Cash’s studio to record the song. According to the producer, Malone believed that Bob Dylan would be present that day, which was not the case. Also according to Cash, Malone spent time “ghost chasing” in the studio. “Seriously,” Cash told Rolling Stone. He was like, Yo, dude, I’m ghost hunting. There are ghosts. »

About 40% of the song is said to have been recorded that day. And that was the last recording session. Michael Cash had difficulty convincing Malone to complete the job. “All I can tell you is that it went from something exciting to something spinning like the number 8,” said Michael Cash, who hopes the project will one day come to fruition. .

Bob Dylan and his representative ended up withdrawing the rights to use the lyrics of the song.
